Overview
On November 23, 2020, Chinese entertainment agency Yuehua Entertainment and TikTok operator ByteDance released a promotional video for female idol group A-SOUL.
On December 2, the first music video "Quiet" was released, causing controversy among some netizens immediately after A-SOUL's debut, with viewers expressing their dissatisfaction by commenting on A-SOUL's PV, using language such as "Almost there." (差不多得了) and criticized the debut of the band.
On December 11, A-SOUL held its first live broadcast on Douyin, and on December 12, member Diana made her first video broadcast on Bilibili, which received a good response. Since then, their popularity has gradually increased and they have attracted a large number of fans on the Chinese Internet.
A-SOUL's fans have also attracted many kinds of subculture groups to the Chinese Internet. Currently A-SOUL is active on Weibo, Douyin, Bilibili, and other distribution sites.

Disputes
On May 10, 2022, A-SOUL suddenly announced Carol's inside person "live suspension", sparking a major dispute. Some A-SOUL fans claimed that Carol's inside person was complaining of bullying, overwork, and low pay; A-SOUL denied this claim and stated that she was receiving 10% of live distribution revenue.
However, in April 2022, the personal information of all A-SOUL members was leaked and widely spread on the Internet, and related clues pointed to the poor treatment of member, leading to fan concerns about the protection of the personal information of member and questions about the treatment in A-SOUL.
On May 14, Carol's inside person contract was terminated early, and A-SOUL has since moved to minimize the incident. However, fan fights between different factions of A-SOUL and incidents of cyber bullying continue to occur.
