Overview
An evil organization (悪の組織, aku no soshiki) in Pokémon features characters that opposes the main character in each game, anime, and so on.
The specific ideology and objectives of each organization differ greatly, and some of them are not so subtle that they can be called "evil", but they generally have in common that they misuse Pokémon and have a confrontational relationship with the main characters.
Therefore, the common name "evil organization" has become less and less appropriate, but it is still used because it is still valid to refer to them as "an organization of enemies who use Pokémon for evil".
They often stand in the way of the hero's journey, blocking their way through towns, roads, forests, and dungeons in the story. In the final stages of the game, the player is pitted against the boss who leads the organization in an attempt to thwart its ambitions. In many cases, the boss plays a major role in the development of the storyline, as the battle with the boss takes place after the defeat of the seventh gym leader, and the organization is often deeply involved with Legendary Pokémon.
