Overview
A fantasy occupation (ファンタジー職業, fantajī shokugyō) is a profession that appears in fantasy creations, mainly in games and novels. However, the definition of fantasy itself is ambiguous, so the range of applicable occupations is wide. It includes occupations that do not exist in reality or have no sense of reality, occupations that once existed but have disappeared in the modern age, and even old occupations that exist but are treated in the image of the past.
The number of occupations continues to grow, as more and more games are twisting standard occupations and adding new classifications (e.g., warrior + wizard → magic warrior), or daring to bring modern elements into medieval-style fantasy in order to create a fresh look.
In some games, the name of the race is also used as a fantasy occupation.
