Overview & Personality編集

Dr. Neo Cortex is the main antagonist of the video game series Crash Bandicoot. He is a short mad scientist who wishes to conquer the world by using an army of mutated animals, among them being the titular Crash himself, who defected and has become his archenemy ever since the first game. Cortex's right-hand man was originally fellow scientist Nitrus Brio, but he soon replaced him with cyborg physicist N. Gin in Crash Bandicoot: Cortex Strikes Back, who has stuck by his side for most of the series. Cortex also has a niece named Nina, who debuted in Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Rampage and has followed in her uncle's evil footsteps, sometimes even surpassing him in villainy.

Originally, Cortex was depicted as a very cold and no-nonsense villain who showed a severe lack of humanity or compassion, with a willingness to deceive others and cast out those who failed him. This would start to change when Crash Bandicoot: Warped released, which portrayed Cortex as more cordial and weary due to Uka Uka constantly supervising and intimidating him, making him start to wonder if he should continue his schemes to by the end of the game. In the post-Naughty Dog games, Cortex became sillier and rather flamboyant, showing a far more approachable (while still evil) side of himself.
