Overview
Norway is a northern European country. Traditionally relying strongly on fishing and farming, an oil rush in the 1970's placed it among the more wealthy countries in Europe.
The country has long periods of snow each year (except along the southern and southwest coasts), contributing to its dominance of the Winter Olympics, especially so in the skiing disciplines. They have also done well in summer sports in periods, such as (but not limited to) handball, golf, and beach volleyball.
Among defining features, include the extensive forests and mountains, wool sweaters, old wooden farms, soft heartshaped waffles, and extensive folklore with trolls, elf creatures, and more.
The country has contributed significantly to Anglosphere pop music canon with e.g. a-ha, Kygo, Ylvis, and Madcon. Its Constitution Day parades on the 17th of May each year are among the biggest annual parades in the world.
