COMIC CITY(コミックシティ) is a doujinshi convention organized by Akaboo.
It is held in major cities across Japan, including Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka.
The convention predominantly features YAOI (BL) works, with approximately 99% of participants reported to be women. Many of the works focus on specific ship, with ship-based narratives being the general expectation.
Unlike Comic Market, COMIC CITY operates on a first-come, first-served basis rather than a lottery system. With over 20 events held annually, it boasts the largest annual total number of participants among doujinshi conventions in Japan.
A notable feature of COMIC CITY is the frequent hosting of only events—dedicated conventions for specific product or pairings. This unique characteristic sets it apart from other events. Additionally, participants who publish doujinshi can collect special cards; once 50 cards are gathered, an only event for the specified product or pairing can be organized.
Notes for Foreign Participants:
- Circle Participation: To register as a circle (exhibitor), you must reside in Japan. Applications made using a hotel address or forwarding service will be rejected.
- General Admission: General attendees are free to participate without restrictions.
