Cat ears hood (猫耳フード, nekomimi fūdo) is a hood in which a portion of the fabric on either side protrudes in a triangular shape and looks like cat ears when worn.
The design has nothing to do with functionality, but as decorative ears.
Or perhaps it is a hood for people with cat ears on their heads.
A famous example is the one worn by the Final Fantasy III class Devout.
