Overview
Chaos (混沌, konton) is a disorderly state of something. On pixiv this tag is usually attached to illustrations that can only be described as "how did this happen" or "this is terrible" but it is also often attached to psychedelic illustrations, mysterious scenes, and other illustrations that are truly unfamiliar.
Incidentally, it was originally written as "渾沌" but "混沌" is now more widely used, partly because it is easier to write.
"渾沌" is also the name of Hundun, a monster in Chinese mythology that presides over chaos.
In Western fiction, it is often used synonymous with evil or as a subset of evil.
An example is the scene in the movie The Dark Knight, modeled on John Milton's Satan in Paradise Lost, where the villain, the Joker, calls himself an "agent of chaos".
