Costume (服飾) is a term used to refer to a group of items of clothing, accessories, and other wearable items.
It can also refer specifically to the type of clothing and accessories one wears.
In Japanese, this term can refer to:
- Fukusou (服装): Means a dress or outfit including clothes and ornaments.
- Fudangi (普段着): Refers to clothing worn for everyday use.
- Shinshifuku (紳士服): Refers to Western-style clothing for adult men.
- Fujinfuku (婦人服): Clothing worn by women.
Generally in English, when people refer to a costume (コスチューム, kosuchūmu), they are referring to some kind of special outfit.
