Playing (遊び, Asobi) is a behavior that organisms, including humans, engage in for the purpose of entertainment, rest, and stress relief.
Children's games are especially well known.
Before the Showa period, the rumor that adults playing = nightlife (betting, drinking, smoking, cars, playing with fire, sexual activity, etc.) was prominent, but since the end of the Heisei period, it has become common for adults to play in a healthy manner like children do.
