Summary
The Xperia started its life with the release of Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 outside of Japan.
Few Xperia smartphones and tablets were available in Japan, starting with Xperia X10 (known as just Xperia in Japan). In Japan, Sony does not selling Xperia smartphones and tablets through Sony stores, instead they are releases as DoCoMo carrier-exclusive.
Only Xperia X1 and X2 has Windows mobile OS, all others has Android OS.

Code-named Venus, it is the very first Xperia smartphone. It has the Qualcomm MSM7200A SoC and is mated with 256 MB of RAM. It has the keyboard which can be slide out when needed. It has the rear 3.2 MP camera
The X1 runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 OS and is shipped with Opera Mini browser pre-installed.
Xperia X2
Code-named Vulcan, It is the last Xperia smartphone to be run on Windows Mobile OS.
While most of the specs are same as X1, there are few differences: it has 288 MB of RAM and 8 MP rear camera.

Xperia X10 (Also known as Xperia SO-01B in Japan)
Code-named Rachael and released on March 2010, it is the very first Xperia smartphones to be runs on Android OS.
It runs on Android 1.6 OS (can be upgrade to 2.1 and later 2.3), and the phone itself features 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 QSD8250 SoC, 384 MB of RAM and 8.1 MP rear camera.
Delta
Xperia X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro
Code-named Robyn for X10 Mini and Mimmi for X10 Mini Pro, they are the mini version of the aforementioned X10.
Despite the name Mini, they has less powerful specs compares to its bigger counterpart. They have the 600 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 MSM7227 SoC and it's mated with 256 MB of RAM. they are runs on Android 1.6 OS (can be upgrade to 2.1) and has the 5 MP rear camera.
The X10 Mini Pro has the physical keyboard that can be slide out when needed. Other than the keyboard, every specs is the same as X10 Mini.
Xperia X8
Code-named Shakira, it is mid-range smartphone that shared the same Delta platform with Xperia X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro. It has less RAM (168 MB) and has 3.2 MP rear camera. Other specs are the same as X10 Mini.
Mogami
Xperia Arc (SO-01C in Japan) and Arc S
Code-named Anzu, The Xperia Arc was released on March 2011.
As the name implies, it has the Arc-like body design. It has the 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 MSM8255 SoC, and mated with 512 MB of RAM. It has 1 GB internal storage, which can be expanded with MicroSD card.
The 4.2 inches display powered by Sony's Bravia Engine. It also has the 8.1 MP Exmor R sensor rear camera.
It runs on Android 2.3.4 which can be upgrade to 4.0.4.
The upgraded version of Xperia Arc, known as Xperia Arc S and code-named Ayame, feature higher-clocked version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC (1.4 GHz) and higher internet transfer speed.
Xperia Neo, Neo V and Neo L
Code-named Hallon, The Xperia Neo was released on the same date as Xperia Arc was.
Aside from having the front VGA camera, it has the same specs as Xperia Arc has.
The lower-end variants, known as Xperia Neo V and code-named Haida, has the 5 MP non-Exmor rear camera and slower internet speed compared to Neo.
Another version of Xperia Neo, known as Xperia Neo L, was released on March 2012. Specs are similar to that of Xperia Neo V.
Both Neo and Neo V are runs on Android 2.3.4, which can be upgrade to Android 4.0.4. The Xperia Neo L comes with Android 4.0.4 as standard OS version.
Xperia Acro (S0-01E for HSPA model and IS11S for EV-DO model in Japan)
Code-named Azusa for HSPA model and Akane for EV-DO model, It is the japan-exclusive model. It was released in June 2011.
The HSPA model has the 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 MSM8255 SoC while the EV-DO model has the 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 MSM8655 SoC. Both model has the 512 MB of RAM, and rear 8.1 MP Exmor-R camera.
Both model runs on Android 2.3.3.
Xperia Mini (Sony Ericsson Mini in Japan), Xperia Mini Pro and Live with Walkman
Codenamed Smultron, Mango and Coconut for Mini, Mini Pro and Live with Walkman respectively, they were released on August 2011.
They shares the same 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 MSM8255, 512 MB of RAM as well as 5 MP rear camera. The only differences is that Xperia Mini pro has the physical keyboard slider, and Live with Walkman has less internal storage (400 MB compared to 1 GB).
All models runs on Android 2.3, which can be upgrade to 4.0.
Xperia Ray (SO-03C in Japan)
Code-named Urushi, it was released on August 2011.
It hast the 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 MSM8255, 512 MB of RAM and 1 GB of internal storage (can be expanded with a MicroSD card). It has the rear 8.1 MP Exmor-R camera with a LED flash.
It runs on Android 2.3.4, which can be upgrade to 4.0.4.
Xperia Active
Code-named Satsuma and released on the third quarter of 2011, it is the first water-resistant Xperia smartphone.
Specs are similar to other Xperia phone released in 2011 except the 5 MP rear camera.
Xperia Pro
Code-named Iyokan, it is released in the similar quarter as Xperia Active in 2011. It is the last Xperia smartphone to be release under Sony Ericsson brand.
It shares the same specs as Xperia Active, except it lacks Water-resistant and has keyboard slider.
Zeus
Xperia Play (SO-01D in Japan)
Code-named Zeus for the GSM version and Zeusc of the CDMA version, it is the first handheld game console smartphone hybrid for a Xperia smartphone. It is also the first PlayStation certified smartphone.
It has the 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 MSM8255 SoC, 512 MB of RAM and 400 MB internal storage (can be expanded with MicroSD card). It has the sliders featuring similar buttons layout from the PlayStation controllers.
It runs on Android 2.3.7 OS.
Fuji
Xperia S (Xperia NX in Japan)
Code-named Nozomi and released in February 2012, it is the first Xperia smartphone to be release under Sony brand.
It is powered by the 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 MSM8260 dual-core SoC, 1 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. It also has equipped with NFC as well. It has the rear 12.1 MP Exmor-R camera. Its battery is not user-removable.
A variant, known as Xperia SL, released on September 2012.
It runs on Android 2.3, which can be upgrade to 4.0.4 and then 4.1.2.
Xperia Ion
Code-named Aoba, it is a mid-range smartphone that released in March 2012. It is the first Xperia smartphone that supports the 4G LTE internet connectivity.
The specs is similar to that of Xperia S, except it has the 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 APQ8060 dual-core SoC and 16 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded with a MicroSD card.
Xperia Acro S (Xperia Acro HD in Japan)
Code-named Hayate for CDMA model and Hikari for HSPA model, It is the successor to the Japanese-exclusive Xperia Acro. It is the second water-resistant smartphone after Xperia Active.
While the HSPA version shared the same specs as Xperia S, the CDMA version has the faster Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 MSM8660 SoC instead. Japanese models has 11 GB of internal storage, while global model has 16 GB of storage.
The Japanese models comes with Android 2.3 where global models comes with the Android 4.0. only global models can be upgrade to 4.1 (where Japanese model stops at 4.0).

Xperia sola
Code-named Pepper, it is the mid-range smartphone that is released on March 2012.
It has a 1 GHz ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 dual-core SoC, 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. Unique to sola is the Floating Touch technology, in which Xperia sola can detect a finger up to 0.79 inches (20mm) above the screen. It also equipped with NFC.
It runs on Android 2.3 and can be upgrade to Android 4.0.4.
Xperia P
Code-named Nypon, it is a high-end smartphone that is released on April 2012.
The only component that is shared with sola is the SoC and the NFC. It also has 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. It has the rear 8 MP Exmor-R camera
It runs on Android 2.3 and can be upgrade to 4.0.4 and later 4.1.2.
Xperia U
Code-named Kumquat, it is a mid-range smartphone that is released on May 2012.
It shares the same SoC, RAM and camera sensor with the sola. It lack the NFC as other Sony Xperia smartphone do. It has the 4 GB of internal storage.
It runs on Android 2.3 and can be upgrade to Android 4.0.4.

Code-named Lotus, it is a entry-level smartphone that is released on July 2012. It is the third water-resistant smartphone after Xperia Acro S.

Code-named Komachi, it is the second Japanese-exclusive Xperia smartphone and is the second Xperia smartphone to support 4G LTE.
It is powered by the 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 dual-core SoC, mated with 1 GB of RAM. It has 8 GB of internal storage.
It runs on Android 4.0, which can be upgrade to 4.1.2.
Xperia T, TL and TX (Xperia GX in Japan)
Code-named Hayabusa and Mint for TX (GX) and T, TL respectively, they are the flagship Xperia smartphone in the first half of 2012. All of them were released in 2012.
The TX and T has the 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8260A dual-core Soc TL has the newer MSM8960 dual-core SoC. They have 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage and 13.1 MP rear camera with Exmor-R sensor.
Only Japanese GX model as well as TL has 4G LTE supports. All models runs on Android 4.0.4, which can be upgrade to 4.1.2 and later 4.3.3.
The phone was featured in James Bond film Skyfall.
Xperia V (Xperia AX and Xperia VL in Japan)
Code-named Tsubasa, it is the mid-range Xperia smartphone for the first half of 2013.
It is powered by the 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 dual-core
SoC, and has the 1 GB of RAM. Global model has 8 GB of storage memory, while Japanese models has 16 GB of storage memory. All model supports 4G LTE and are water-resistant. It shares the same camera sensor as the other Sony flagship Xperia smartphone has (13 MP).
It runs on Android 4.0.4 and can be upgrade to 4.3.

Xperia Tipo and Tipo Dual
Code-named Tapioca, it is the entry-level smartphone. It is also has the Dual-SIM variant.
It has the 800 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 MSM7225A SoC that is mated with 512 MB of RAM. It has 3 GB of internal storage (can be expanded with a MicroSD card).
It runs on Android 4.0.4.
Xperia Miro
Code-named Mesona, it is a entry-level smartphone.

Code-named Jlo, it is the entry-level smartphone that is released on October 2012.

Released on 9 February 2013 and code-named as Yuga, it is the flagship Xperia smartphone. The Xperia Z also started the Xperia Z series smartphones and tablets.

Code-named Dogo, it is the low-end variant of Xperia Z.

Code-named Amami, it is the compact variant of Z1.

Xperia Z2
Code-named Sirius, it is the flagship smartphone that supersedes the Xperia Z1.
The specs of Z2 is similar to that of Z1, except the SoC and RAM: It is powered by the 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core SoC and 3 GB of RAM. The Z2 now supports the 4K UHD video recording and also noise canceling function.
Compared to Z1, the Z2 is better as Sony improved the phone in various way.

Xperia M2
Code-named Eagle, it is the mid-range smartphone that supersedes the Xperia M. It has the dual-SIM variant.
Specs wise, it is similar to that of Xperia T2 Ultra, except the camera where 8 MP camera is used instead.
It runs on Android 4.4.2.
Xperia C3
Code-named Gina, it is the selfie-centered smartphone that supersedes the Xperia C.
The specs is mostly the same as Xperia M2 except it has the front 5 MP camera.

Xperia T3
Code-named Seagull, it is the mid-high range Xperia smartphone that supersedes the Xperia T.

Xperia Z3
Code-named Leo, it is the flagship Xperia smartphone that supersedes the Xperia Z2.
It featuring the higher-clocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC (2.5 GHz) and it is mated with 3 GB of RAM. It has the improved 20.7 MP back shooter with wider aperture and high sensitivity. despite the reduced battery capacity, the Xperia Z3 operates longer than Xperia Z2. It is the first Xperia smartphone to use the Nano-SIM card, and it also the first flagship model to have a dual-SIM variant.
It runs on Android 4.4.4. As with other Xperia Z series, it was planned to be able to upgrade to Android 5.0.
Xperia Z3 Compact
Code-named Aries, is the smaller version of Xperia Z3.
The internal specs is the same as Z3 (except battery capacity). The phone has the smaller 4.6 inches IPS HD display.
It runs on Android 4.4.4. As with other Xperia Z series, it was planned to be able to upgrade to Android 5.0.

Code-named Tsx03, it is the very first Sony Xperia tablet.
It is powered by the 1.3 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 T30L quad-core SoC and 1 GB of RAM. It has three capacities available: 16, 32 and 64 GB.
It runs on Android 4.0, which can be upgrade to 4.1.1.
Xperia Tablet Z
Code-named Pollux, it is the second Xperia tablet.
It shares the same SoC and RAM as Xperia Z has. It was available in 16 GB and 32 GB capacities and has Wi-fi and LTE variants. It has the front 2.2 MP camera and rear 8 MP camera.
It runs on Android 4.1, and only Wi-fi variant can be upgrade to 4.4.
Xperia Tablet Z2
Code-named Castor, it is the third Xperia tablet that supersedes the Xperia Tablet Z.
Like Tablet Z, it shares the same SoC and RAM as the flagship phone has. In Tablet Z2's case, it's Z2. The cameras are remain unchanged and like Z, it available in 16 GB and 32 GB capacities and has Wi-fi and LTE variants.
It runs on Android 4.4.2.
Xperia Tablet Z3 Compact
This is the upcoming Xperia tablet that is scheduled to release on Obtober 2014.
The tablet is in the 8 inches size, yet despite the decreased battery capacity, it has the same specs has the current flagship Xperia model has.
It runs on Android 4.4.4.
