Overview
"Tight" is a mistranslation of "tights" (タイツ), a skin-tight garment or undergarment worn over the legs and covering from the waist to the feet. They can range from sheer to opaque, depending on the closeness of their knit, which is called denier. High-denier tights are opaque and can be worn as outerwear, while low-denier tights are sheer and typically worn under a skirt or shorts. Tights are often worn by dancers, such as ballerinas, often under a leotard. As a category, tights can encompass pantyhose and leggings, but not stockings, which are a separate garment for each leg (though they are often confused).
