Doujin Circle

Doujin Circles (同人サークル) are a group or organization formed by a group of people with the same interests and aspirations.

Doujin Circle (同人サークル, dōjin sākuru) is a circle (group or organization) formed by an individual or several people with the same interests and aspirations who make doujins. Some people are engaged in activities under a name of a circle alone and are called individual circles.

Overview.

Originally, the term "circle" referred to a members-only place where people engaged in cultural creative activitys gather to publish their works and exchange opinions.

Today, however, the term is generally recognized to refer to an organization formed to produce coterie works such as doujin manga and doujin games for publication at Comiket and other events. In the past, the cost of producing doujinshis was so high that it was necessary for several people to pool their money to order a single book, but nowadays this is no longer necessary, and the most common type of doujinshi circle is probably the individual circles, in which a single person acts as the leader.

Establishment of Doujin Circles

Most doujin circles are voluntary organizations and do not need to obtain corporation status, so they can be formed on the spot once a circle name has been decided upon.

If necessary for smooth activities by multiple members, rules (constitution) and regulations (even guidelines) can be decided upon the agreement of the members.
