"Stars and Stripes" (Literally, "Star Stripe Flag")
The flag of the United States of America (USA) features 13 lateral stripes of alternating red and white. There are 7 red stripes and 6 white stripes, together the 13 stripes represent the 13 states that originally unified and declared independence from British rule in 1776. In the upper left corner of the flag is a blue square with 50 white stars, each star represents a state currently within the USA.
The Japanese above states that the colors Red, White, and Blue were chosen to represent courage, truth, and justice respectively; however there is no officially agreed symbolism behind the colors accord to the USA government.
