Summary
Kuroko’s Basket is also known as “Kurobasu” for short in Japanese.
Just like the title suggests, the series is about basketball.
Compared to other basketball-themed manga, each player actually has a special ability that would be considered close to cheating, but not enough to be considered as such. These characters are known as one of the strongest players, part of a group of basketball players that were known as the “Generation of Miracles” back in their middle school.
Tadatoshi Fujimaki, the creator of the series, has said in a fanbook interview that some of the skills and moves in the series do not follow the law of physics so there are moves and form that may seem impossible to do by real humans. It doesn’t go as far as show teleportation or any other types of strange, unexplainable moves.
Manga and Anime
The manga was first published in the manga anthology Weekly Shounen Jump since September 2008. They started to publish the books into tankoubon volumes by Shueisha with the first being released on April 2009.
In the 2011, 43rd volume of Weekly Shounen Jump, they publicized the news that Kuroko’s Basketball would turn into an anime. From April 2012 to September 2012, it was broadcasted on MBS, Tokyo MX, and BS11 TV channels. It totaled about 25 episodes.
Story
The story of Kuroko’s Basketball is about an amazing basketball team at Teikou Middle School. There were 5 regulars on the team that were said to be the “Generation of Miracles” as they demolished all their opponents. After graduating Teikou Middle School, they each went their separate ways to different high schools. However, there was a rumor that the Generation of Miracles were not just 5 people, but actually 6. Between the 5 of them, they knew of the phantom 6th man.
The 6th man, Kuroko Tetsuya, along with Kagami Taiga, a naturally talented player who spent most of middle school in the US, are now taking on the other 5 Generation of Miracles players, aiming to bring their team, Seirin, to become the top basketball team in Japan.
