Black tights are generally covered from the lower limbs to the waist. They often represent innocence and aristocracy in female characters in popular anime/manga.

Overview

A type of legwear. Black tights.

Black tights range from semi-transparent ones that are slightly transparent to thick ones that are not transparent at all to super-thick ones that cannot be torn even if you fall down.

Black tights have a stronger effect of making the legs look slimmer and sexier than other colors.

The thicker ones are surprisingly warm and used for protection against the cold, and can often be seen in real life from fall to winter. Although this is not relevant in the two-dimensional world (especially in moe manga), it also has the practical side effect of allowing people to skip taking care of their legs (e.g., unwanted hair) because their bare skin is almost invisible.

In the case of manga and other school stories set in schools (unless black tights are compulsory under school rules), they are usually worn by young lady characters or Western characters such as foreign students.

In recent years, various types of characters have been wearing them (similar to the history of mesh tights) because the number of ways to wear them has increased, but sexy types are still limited.

They are also used as a winter protection device and to hide rough skin and hair (maiden's shame), which is a common story.
