Overview
Bobbed hair (おかっぱ, okappa) is another term of the bob haircut, a type of hairstyle. The front hair is cut above the eyebrows and the back hair is cut around the neck.
It is called okappa because it resembles the hair on the head of a kappa. In ancient times, it was called kamuro (bobbed hair).
It is a very popular hairstyle for women in Japan. Today, it is often called a bob (bob cut).
