Overview
Hair (髪, kami) is something that grows from the skin of mammals. Human hair grows all over the body except on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet, but especially thick, long hairs concentrated on the head. The number of hairs is estimated to be about 100,000. As long as the hair follicles are healthy, the hair can grow as long as it wants, but if it is left to grow as it is, it becomes a nuisance, so most people trim it to an appropriate length.
Because it is a part of the body and can be modified relatively easily, it is often used to express one's individuality. In particular, women's hairstyles have been bundled or braided to create a wide variety of variations.
It is one of the elements that produce sex appeal, and is also seen as a symbol of youthfulness.
