The Aichi D3A1 Val (Navy Type 99 Carrier Bomber Model 11) was the first variant of the D3A Val employed in combat. The D3A1 was also the most common variant used, taking part in Pearl Harbor, Darwin, the Indian Ocean Raid, Coral Sea, Midway and the Solomon Islands Campaign.
