Overview
A doll (人形, ningyō) is a type of model figure that been used in various places for various things. The most common way dolls are use is being played with, usually given to young girls to play with. While playing dolls is still common, they are also used a lot today as collectibles or highly artistic works of art.
Many of them can be carried by themselves, and those that are mounted are often called models, not dolls.
Those that are modeled after a characters are called figures. In a broad sense, all models and dolls are figures.
