The English Electric Lightning was a British jet interceptor operated mainly by the Royal Air Force during the Cold War.
It was also exported to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. After their retirement in 1977, many of Kuwait's former Lightings would be destroyed during the Invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
