Overview
Gaming (ゲーミング, Gēmingu) is the act of playing a game such as a tabletop game, role-playing game, video game, and gambling. The term is mainly used for playing video games, as well as the equipment for it.
Pre-History and Gaming Devices
Common keyboards, mouse, and monitors have various limitations due to cost and other factors.
- Long reading intervals and inability to read fine movements
- Cursor reacts even when the mouse is lifted, causing the cursor to move in unexpected directions
- Few keys respond to simultaneous presses.
- Low durability under extreme conditions such as gameplay (continuous hitting, large movements)
- Large afterimages and limited range of image quality settings (monitor)
These are not a problem for general business or casual hobby use, but can lead to insufficient specs for games, especially those that compete for milliseconds, such as FPS net battles.
In order to gain a slight edge in online competitions, demand for peripherals with high specs was created.
At first, ordinary products on the market with designs and performance suitable for game-playing spread by word of mouth and were advertised as "gaming devices" (IntelliMouse, RealForce, etc.), but around 2000, gaming devices that clearly claim to be for games began to appear more.
Although they are more expensive than ordinary devices, they have higher specs and some of their functions are useful in areas other than games.
