A woman who is said to be possessed and killed within a few days. In the story where Hachishaku-sama was introduced, she was wearing a white dress and a hat, but her appearance is said to vary depending on the viewer. However, they all have one thing in common: they have a creepy smile called ``Popopo'', they wear some sort of headgear, and as their name suggests, they are 8 shaku (approx. 2.4 m) tall.

Young men before adulthood, especially children, are said to be the most likely to be targeted, and they sometimes use the voices of their relatives to lure them out. It is said that they do not appear frequently, and damage occurs once every few to ten years.

It is said that it was originally sealed away in a certain village, but it is possible that the Jizo that was installed to prevent Hasshaku-sama from leaving the village was broken, and that it may now be circulating around the country.
