Higurashi When They Cry (ひぐらしのなく頃に, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, lit. When the Cicadas Cry) is a doujinshi game produced by 07th Expansion. The original game was released one by one at Comiket in the summer of 2002, and the final chapter released in the summer of 2006 marks the end of the game.

The director, scenario, and character design for the original work were done by Ryukishi07.

The original game has been developed into various media, including manga, drama CDs, anime, consumer games, and a live-action movie version.
