Kingdom (王国, ōkoku) is a state in which a king or queen reigns. It is a form of monarchy.
In the absence of a king for some reason, a regent often takes his place. In fact, the Kingdom of Hungary, which once existed, has never had a king since its foundation.
A kingdom may also refer to a religiously idealized state or a region where some industry or culture is particularly flourishing.
