Overview
Monkey D. Luffy (モンキー・D・ルフィ, Monkī Dī Rufi) the protagonist of this work. Born in the Great Pirate Era, a time when pirates and adventurers were at their peak of prosperity, he dreams of finding the "One Piece" and becoming the Pirate King. When he realizes his dream, he is going to do "something" that will cause people to open their mouths in bewilderment and later laugh at his reaction.
When he was a child, he ate a Gum-Gum Fruit, one of the devil's fruits, which is also called the hidden treasure of the sea, and became a full-body rubber person whose every part of his body can stretch and contract freely.
