Overview
One or more holes from body piercing in which no jewelry is currently being worn.
Creation
When the body piercing has healed, it leaves a tunnel through the flesh known by the medical term "fistula". The amount of time necessary for the body to create this new tissue varies by location, size, and individual, but usually takes at least two weeks and often several months. Once the fistula has sealed the initial wound, the new tissue continues to thicken and become more durable until it becomes a permanent opening. Removing the jewelry during this process may lead to the piercing closing partially or entirely over time.
