Overview
Snow (雪, yuki) is the ice crystals formed from water vapor in the atmosphere and falling from the sky being white, cold and soft. Even when they are piled up, they contain a lot of air between the crystals, unlike mere ice blocks.
Because it is made of ice, it becomes water when it melts.
When the falling object is a lump or a grain of ice, it is called hail, and when it is somewhere between snow and rain, it is called sleet.
