Summer (夏, natsu) is second of the four seasons. Between spring and autumn, in Japan it refers to the months of June, July, and August.
In the calendar, it refers to the period from the first day of summer to the day before the first day of autumn (April to June in the lunar calendar). In astronomy, it refers to the period from the summer solstice to the autumnal equinox.
It is the hottest season of the year, with long days and short nights.
