Overview
Building (建物, tatemono) can refer to a structure established on land that has a roof, pillars, and walls, and is used, in principle, for human habitation, work space, and storage of goods. It can also mean the action of making such things.
Wood, stone, cloth, iron, and other strong and workable materials have been used. In modern times, glass-fronted buildings are not uncommon.
The environment created the necessary facilities, and the materials that could be gathered and used to construct them depended on the climate, ecosystem, etc., and thus had a significant impact on the formation of the culture of each region. Buildings constructed under the same conditions naturally create a unified landscape and shape towns and cities.
