Chibi

Chibi (ちび) is a Japanese slang for someone or something as short.

Overview

Chibi (ちび, chibi) is a Japanese slang describing someone or something as short, little, tiny, ect. It comes from the verb chibiru (禿びる, chibiru), which means 'to wear out and become shorter'.

It is also another term for the deformed art form, but unlike deformed, the chibi term does not change outside of Japan making it the more popular term. Deformed tends to have a negative meaning in English.

In media the word is added to a characters name such as Chibiusa Tsukino / Sailor Chibi Moon (Sailor Moon), Chibi Keroro (Keroro Gunso / Sgt. Frog), and more.
