Overview編集

Crowns (冠, kagafuri) are mainly worn by monarchs, nobles, and clergy. In particular, those worn by kings are called imperial crowns.

The word "crown" in family related ceremonial occasions indicates the crowning of a man at the time of his regal attire (when he is allowed to wear an eboshi (in Japan)), and is used in the modern sense to signify the coming-of-age ceremony.

There are also ceremonial crowns, such as the laurel wreath, which signifies honor, and tiaras worn at weddings.
