The Boeing 747-400 is a variant of the 747. The aircraft was the 2nd last major version of the 747 made by Boeing.
History
The 747-400 was first flown on April 29 1988 at Boeing Field, Seattle. The aircraft (N401PW) would later be sold to Northwest Airlines in 1989 as N661US and become the first 747-400 to enter service. N661US is currently at the Delta Museum in Atlanta. Singapore Airlines was the first airline to operate the 747-400 on an International route while KLM was the first to operate the 747-400M Combi variant.
