History
In 1910, the Società Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili (ALFA) was founded in Milan. Five years later, engineer Nicola Romeo took over the company, which was renamed Alfa Romeo in 1920.
Alfa Romeo produced legendary racing cars in the 1930s. Later, they developed technically complex, beautifully designed models such as the Giulia and the Spider.
However, the company struggled to achieve significant economic success. In 1986, Fiat (which later became Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, or FCA) acquired the brand.
Following the merger of PSA (Peugeot Société Anonyme) and FCA in 2021, Alfa Romeo became one of the premium brands within the Stellantis Group. Current models include the Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan, the luxury SUV Stelvio, and the mid-range SUV Tonale.
