Overview
A huge underwater prison located at the bottom of Fontaine. In the old days of Fontaine, criminals were not punished by "confinement or imprisonment" but by "exile" to a remote area.
However, over 500 years ago, the former Hydro Archon Egeria heard the exiles' desire for redemption and built a fortress at the bottom of the sea with them, entrusting them with a certain mission. Since then, it has been used as a place to exile criminals, and over time, only its role as a prison has remained, up to the present day.
The current manager is Wriothesley. Fortress of Meropide has autonomy as an "oversea" place, and even the administrative authority, Palais Mermonia, cannot interfere without due process.
