Fried chicken (フライドチキン) is chicken fried in oil.

Overview

Fried chicken (フライドチキン, furaidochikin) is a food product created from deepfrying chicken legs, chicken wings, or bits of chicken fillet that have been wrapped in batter and occasionally marinated. It is associated with American fast food and with comfort food recipes. It goes very well with beer.

Since some time ago, they have been sold as one of the hot snacks at convenience stores and have become a more familiar gourmet food. Many people may be tempted to buy them because of their delicious appearance.

Karaage is a type of fried chicken (a dish in which ingredients are covered with a thin layer of flour and deep-fried in a large amount of oil), but it is sometimes distinguished as follows: the one in which the meat is seasoned and deep-fried is karaage, and the one in which the batter is seasoned is fried chicken. If this were the case, fried chicken would be made with karaage flour (seasoned batter).
