Overview
A website that creates and publishes free illustrations. All illustrations are drawn with a soft touch like cloth cutouts. The administrator is illustrator Takashi Mifune.
Due to the following characteristics, it has replaced areas where PowerPoint clip art was previously used, such as neighborhood association announcements, store flyers, and business presentations, and has also come to be seen in all kinds of media, such as government public relations, web advertisements, school classes (such as postings in schools and using materials as handmade teaching materials by teachers), and even flip charts on TV programs (mainly news programs). It has come to the point where it is said that "Japan is full of Irasutoya illustrations."
In 2012, the first illustration, "Laughing Red Demon," was published. It has been updated daily since then, but in January 2021, it was reported that due to a busy schedule, updates would be suspended and would be updated irregularly from then on.
This caused a shock throughout Japan for various reasons, including the fact that a site that had been updated daily had stopped recording after 10 years, that it had been updated without a break for nine years, and that it was the work of one person in the first place.
