Overview
Kuroko's Basketball (黒子のバスケ, Kuroko no Basuke) is a sports manga by Tadatoshi Fujimaki. Just like the title suggests, the series is about basketball.
Compared to other basketball-themed manga, each player actually has a special ability that would be considered close to cheating, but not enough to be considered as such. These characters are known as one of the strongest players, part of a group of basketball players that were known as the Generation of Miracles back in their middle school.
Tadatoshi Fujimaki, the creator of the series, has said in a fanbook interview that some of the skills and moves in the series do not follow the law of physics so there are moves and form that may seem impossible to do by real humans. It doesn’t go as far as show teleportation or any other types of strange, unexplainable moves.
The manga was first published in the manga anthology Weekly Shōnen Jump since September 2008. They started to publish the books into tankōbon volumes by Shueisha with the first being released on April 2009.
In the 2011, 43rd volume of Weekly Shōnen Jump, they publicized the news that Kuroko’s Basketball would turn into an anime. From April 2012 to September 2012, it was broadcasted on MBS, Tokyo MX, and BS11. It totaled about 25 episodes.
Plot
The story of Kuroko’s Basketball is about an amazing basketball team at Teikō Junior High. There were 5 regulars on the team that were said to be the Generation of Miracles as they demolished all their opponents. After graduating Teikō Junior High, they each went their separate ways to different high schools. However, there was a rumor that the Generation of Miracles were not just 5 people, but actually 6. Between the 5 of them, they knew of the phantom 6th man.
The 6th man, Tetsuya Kuroko, along with Taiga Kagami, a naturally talented player who spent most of middle school in the US, is now at Seirin High, aiming to bring Seirin, to the top of Japan by taking on Kuroko's former teammates one by one.
