Overview
Shueisha (集英社, Shūeisha) is a major general publishing company in Japan. It is one of Japan's three largest publishers, along with Shogakukan and Kodansha.
The company was established in 1926 as an independent publisher from the entertainment magazine division of Shogakukan (小学館). It is a major member of the Hitotsubashi Group (一ツ橋グループ), a corporate group led by Shogakukan.
In recent years, the company has invested in Shogakukan Productions and established Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions, and is now positioned as a core company within the Hitotsubashi Group alongside Shogakukan.
