A mascot (マスコット, masukotto) is a character that represents the image of an organization, a private store, a website, etc. Also known as an image character.
They are often designed in a cute manner.
Sometimes, a costumed mascot appears at events sponsored by various organizations.
In animated cartoons for children, the human characters that accompany the mascot are often drawn to look more like the mascot.
Dolls and stuffed animals that are attached to bags and other items are also often called mascots.
