Overview編集

Narutaru (なるたる) is a Japanese manga and anime as well as an abbreviation of Mukuro Naru Hoshi, Tama Taru Ko (骸なる星 珠たる子). The manga was serialized in Monthly Afternoon from the May 1998 issue to the December 2003 issue. There were 12 volumes and when it was licensed in North America by Dark Horse Comics as Shadow Star .

The anime ran for 13 episodes from July 7 to September 29, 2003. It was broadcast by two stations participating in the production committee: Kids Station's CS nationwide broadcast and TBS Television's Kanto local terrestrial broadcast.

The Kanto local terrestrial broadcast on TBS Television was a re-edited version. Some scenes in episode 12 were unnaturally cut because they included strong expressions of violence, such as an acute attack on the groin of two girls and the slaughter of the assailant's family members and herself. Its English release was titled Shadow Star Narutaru but its broadcast history is not well documented.

Be prepared to read the manga with a suitably strong mindset.
