PlayStation (プレイステーション) is the name of a series of video game consoles created and developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. They have been present in the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth generation of video game consoles; the promoting company is currently on the market with its PlayStation 5.
The Sony Group, through its subsidiary Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), has its own business division with offices and development departments worldwide that specializes in the PlayStation brand. The PlayStation brand and its products are also regularly incorporated into other business areas of the Sony Group, such as mobile phones and the film and TV division. The PlayStation brand's main competitors are Microsoft's video game brand Xbox and Nintendo.
It is also known for the four iconic PlayStation face buttons (△○×□).
