Overview
South Korean animation (韓国アニメ, Kankoku anime), known as aeni (애니), is animation work that is said to have originated in South Korea (Republic of Korea) and produced in South Korea.
The Robot Taekwon V series is famous in Japan in a bad way. There is also Pororo the Little Penguin, a popular children's work in Korea.
The existence of many Japanese works that were copied for political reasons in the 70's and 80's was widely talked about by people who disliked Korea, and the impression that Korean animation is a copycat has persisted to this day.
Although not Korean productions, The Powerpuff Girls and The Simpsons, for example, are traditionally animated by Korean animation studios.
Also, the cult favorite in some circles, the Artificial Insect Kabutoborg VxV, was a Japan-Korea co-production targeting Korea, which was developing toys at the time, so it could be said to be a Korean animation.
Incidentally, because Korean voice actors' associations are not as large as those in Japan, the same voice actors often appear in multiple productions, creating a phenomenon similar to the "Doraemon and Crayon Shin-chan having the same voice" phenomenon in Japan.
