Overview
The Secret of Kells , or Brendan and the Secret of Kells (ブレンダンとケルズの秘密) as known in Ireland and a few other places, is an Irish animated film released in 2009 by Cartoon Saloon.
France and Belgium also collaborated on the production, making it essentially a co-production between the three countries. The directors are Tomm Moore and Nora Twomey.
The heroine, Aisling, seems to be popular on pixiv.
Story
The film depicts the birth of the Book of Kells, a biblical manuscript recognized as one of Ireland's national treasures for the beauty of its cover decoration, and tells the story of how the main character Brendan, in 8th century Ireland under threat from the Vikings, completes the Book of Kells with Brother Aidan, a bible maker he meets on a certain occasion. The story is told through the work of the hero, Brendan.
