Thick coloring (厚塗り, atsu nuri) mainly refers to techniques that utilize the thickness of the painting material and works produced using these techniques.
Although the term is often used to describe painting, a clear definition probably does not exist.
It is sometimes used to refer to works in general using opaque painting materials such as gouache and oil paints.
However, even with transparent painting materials, expressions that use thickness are also used.
In 2DCG, the concept of thickness does not exist in the first place, but this term is commonly used.
There are attempts to reproduce thickness on a computer by using 3DCG technology.
