The USS Ranger CV-61 was a Forrestal Class Aircraft Carrier of the US Navy that operated between 1957 and 1993. During its' entire service period, it was assigned to the US 3rd Fleet in the Pacific Fleet, taking part in the Vietnam War, Iran-Iraq War and the 1991 Gulf War.
It is famous for making a cameo appearance in Top Gun (1986). During the last years of it's service, it was also notable for an air wing (CVW-2) mostly made up of Grumman built aircraft, nicknamed the 'Grumman Air Wing'.
