USS Yorktown CV-5 was the lead ship of the Yorktown-class of aircraft carriers. Yorktown took part in the Battle of the Coral Sea where she was hit by a single bomb. Despite this, she was repaired in time to see action in the Battle of Midway. Yorktown would later be heavily damaged by B5N2 Kates from the IJN Hiryu before being finished off by I-168.
USS Yorktown CV-10 was named after this carrier.
