Mathematics (数学) is one of the academic disciplines. It has an ancient history dating back to B.C. and can be said to be the most ancient study.
Mathematics (数学, sūgaku) is the study of quantity, space, structure, etc., starting from a number of assumptions, and only the results obtained from logical reasoning. It is often included in the field of natural sciences, but some consider pure mathematics to be rather a branch of philosophy.
Its history dates back to the cradle of civilization and is probably the oldest science known to mankind.
