Overview
English (英語, Eigo) is a language that originated in the English region of the United Kingdom.
Originally an inflectional language like other Indo-European languages (German, Latin, Greek, etc.), it has been approaching an isolated language like Chinese and other languages due to historical inflection. Although phylogenetically a Germanic language like German and Dutch, it has many loan words from other languages such as French and Latin, and many words do not match in spelling and pronunciation.
