Western Sweets

Western sweets (洋菓子) is a generic term for confections introduced from the west.

Overview

Western sweets (洋菓子, yōkashi) ingredients include flour, sugar, butter, cream, fruit, nuts, and oil. A confectioner is called a pastry chef. Due to the high sugar content and fatty ingredients used, it is easy to gain weight if eaten on a daily basis, and care must be taken not to overdose (Japanese sweets are less fattening).

When used as the subject of an artwork, they are used as props to express color and prettiness.

In short, they are easily used in installations, but they also have the purpose of making people think "it smells good", "it looks warm", and "I want to visit the restaurant", in addition to their appearance.

It seems that many people want to eat but can't because they are on a diet, saving money, or restricting their sugar intake.
